Richard initiated the development and launch of MediLink SW, which launched in April 2012 and is currently Chair of the Board of Directors. In 2008 he launched the Institute of Bio-Sensing Technology with his colleague Prof Janice Kiely, which seeks to develop new collaborations between industry and academia through inter-disciplinary research and to develop opportunities for funding industrial/academic R&D opportunities. IBST has since developed a network of over 800 companies. Richard is also the founder, organiser and conference chair for the International conference of Bio-sensing Technology, a major international conference with global attendance and underwritten by Elsevier. This conference has industry/academic collaboration as a core theme and seeks to promote industrial research. More recently, Richard launched the Health Tech Hub with Prof Janice Kiely. Based at the University of the West of England (UWE), the founding partners are the West of England Academic Health Science Network, University of Bristol, Sirona Care and Health, Designability, Dycem Ltd and P3 Medical Lt.
